ALERT: It's no secret that America needs to become energy independent -- QUICKLY.
We import nearly 2/3 of our crude oil supply from foreign countries -- over 21 million barrels each and every day. More and more of the world's future supply will come from regions that are either politically unstable or unfriendly to U.S. interests.
Imports of petroleum accounted for $449 billion of the U.S. trade deficit -- almost 63 percent. And, as we all know, gas prices have skyrocketed over the last two years, delivering a heavy blow to most of our wallets.
We MUST kick our addiction to imported oil -- but what do liberals in Congress propose to make that happen?

Sorry, but that's NOT going to do it! What we NEED to do is tap into the HUGE amounts of oil supplies right here in the good ol' USA -- in other words, we need to DRILL HERE, AND DRILL NOW!
In oil shale alone, found in the Green River Formation in parts of Utah, Colorado, and Wyoming, the U.S. has approximately 800 billion barrels of recoverable oil, or over three times the proven reserves of Saudi Arabia! This comes from a midpoint estimate in a 2005 RAND study done at the request of the Department of Energy, and a higher end estimate puts the number at over one trillion barrels.
Furthermore, there are vast areas of the United States and its outer continental shelf where it is illegal to even LOOK for oil. Exploration routinely yields additional resources far larger than initial estimates.
The liberals in Congress are blocking any efforts to expand drilling within our own borders. And unless they hear from ALL OF US right now, they'll continue blocking those efforts until gas is $10 per gallon or more, and we're 100% dependent on our enemies for our energy!
WE MUST MAKE CONGRESS DO THE RIGHT THING -- and we've got a GREAT way to do it!

Liberals in Congress and the Media tell us over and over that drilling won't provide any short-term relief in the price of oil because it will take many years before new drilling will lead to new supplies. This same argument has been used for the past several decades to prevent us from using more of our American oil, leading to our current dependence on foreign oil and the supply crunch we are currently experiencing. Does this mean critics of greater American energy exploration were wrong 10 years ago, 20 years ago, and 30 years ago but are suddenly right today now?
